Data and Information on the Mexican Health and Aging Study Now Available

Data and information from the Mexican Health and Aging Study (MHAS) is now available. The MHAS includes measures of health (including childhood circumstances and cognition), family structure and transfers, migration history of respondents and kin, sources of income and wealth, and work history among Mexicans. This data can be used as a resource when examining a range of issues including the following:

• aging and health dynamics in the country which sends more migrants to the U.S. than any other
  

• family transfers in a place where migration and remittances are commonplace but capital markets are largely non-existent;
  

• the SES gradient in key aspects of health (physical, functional, cognitive, and affective) in a middle-income country where only 40% of older persons have health insurance of any type
