Report by NASUA Explores Approaches to
Program Development Taken by States to Implement Family Caregiver Support Programs
(FCSP)
information provided by Virginia Daze, Associate Director of HCBS at NASUA
The Aging Network Implements the National Family Caregiver Support Programs is the first in a series of reports highlighting the experiences states have had in the program development and implemention of family caregiver support programs (FCSP).
"Examples of the approaches some states have taken to ensure that their FCSPs are integrated, accessible, flexible, culturally competent, and consumer-directed are presented in the report. This report was developed under NASUA's National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) project funded by the U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA). NASUA's NFCSP project 'Promoting Systematic Development of State Family Caregiver Support Programs' is designed to provide the aging network with practical tools and facilitate the adoption of a systematic approach to program development. A systematic approach will ensure that the FCSP is integrated within the home and community based services (HCBS) system and that the needs of caregivers are brought to the forefront of long term care system re-design."
